We want to be able to give you dramatic, lasting results, which means you’ll need to stay on top of your oral health. A dental cleaning and exam as well as any necessary fillings must be completed before braces are placed. During treatment, it’s your responsibility to keep up with your regular six-month checkups with your dentist.
If a bracket or band breaks or becomes loose, please notify our office. Continual breakage can cause a delay in treatment time, so make sure you’re giving your braces the TLC they deserve! There may be a nominal fee for each broken bracket or band after three occurrences.
We understand that “life happens,” so if you’re running late or need to reschedule, please let us know right away and we’ll do everything we can to accommodate you.
We work with you as best as we can to make sure your appointments fit your busy schedule. However, since many of our patients are of school age, it’s impossible to see every single one of them after school. You may have to alternate afternoon and morning appointments. Morning appointments might be required for the placement or removal of braces or other lengthy procedures. Each patient’s treatment is on an individual basis and appointments may vary from two to 10 weeks apart. Regular checkups usually last between 20 and 40 minutes.
To achieve the best possible outcome, it’s important to follow our instructions. This means keeping your regular appointments since unsupervised orthodontics can result in harm to the teeth. You’ll also have to stay away from hard or sticky foods that will cause breakage (pizza crust is not your friend!). To avoid cavities and permanent damage, keep your gums and teeth clean. Additionally, be sure to abide by our directions for elastics and other appliances. Ignoring these items will delay your treatment and could affect your results.
All checks returned to us by your bank for insufficient funds will result in a nominal charge. In these instances, other payment arrangements will have to be made.
